The Coding Specialist III manages up to two short-term client assignments, reviewing documentation to code diagnoses and procedures for inpatient hospital claims and data needs. Responsibilities include coding diagnoses, EM levels, surgical CPT codes, validating MS-DRG and APC calculations, abstracting clinical data, and interacting with client staff and providers as needed.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Assign ICD-10-CM and PCS codes for inpatient visits or ICD-10-CM codes, EM levels, and surgical CPT codes for physician visits, maintaining a 95% quality rate.
2. Validate MS-DRG or APC assignments.
3. Abstract clinical data appropriately.
4. Mitigate claims scrubber edits related to hospital inpatient or professional and technical coding.
5. Manage short-term assignments for up to two clients.
6. Participate in meetings and training sessions as instructed.
7. Maintain current knowledge of coding conventions at client sites.
8. Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Active AHIMA or AAPC credential.
2. At least one year of relevant coding experience within the last six months.
3. Score of 80% or higher on pre-employment tests.

Note: The salary range for this role is $28.00 - $34.00 per hour, varying based on location, experience, certifications, and skills, as required by state laws.
