Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree in Health Information Management/Health Information Technology or similar preferred.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to department goals and adheres to quality and safety standards.
• Assists with development of coding guidelines and participates in Quality review team meetings.
• Directs efforts to achieve the coding compliance plan and identify improvement areas.
• Selects areas for focused quality reviews and maintains credentials for required classifications.
• Queries medical staff to obtain accurate documentation supporting severity and mortality risk.
• Performs retrospective reviews, assigns ICD-10-CM/PCS codes and DRG using guidelines and encoding software.
• Works with the Quality Review team to identify improvement opportunities and participates in multi-disciplinary teams.
