Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking an Inpatient Coding Quality Review Specialist to ensure accuracy of ICD-10-CM/PCS coding in inpatient records. The role validates POA indicators, discharge dispositions, and reviews MHACs, HACs, PSIs, and mortality cases.

The ideal candidate has inpatient coding and auditing experience with a CCS credential through AHIMA; a related associate degree is preferred. MedStar Health offers comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Current CCS credential through AHIMA required.
• 1-2 years inpatient coding experience in acute care.
• 3-4 years auditing experience preferred.
• Associate degree in health information management or related field.
• RHIT/RHIA or CIC certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review inpatient records to validate ICD-10-CM/PCS coding and POA indicators.
• Assess discharge dispositions and identify quality issues.
• Audit MHACs, HACs, PSIs, and mortality cases for accuracy.
• Maintain data quality and support improvement initiatives.
