The role you’ll contribute:

The Inpatient Coding Quality Auditor, under the supervision of the Inpatient Operations Manager, is responsible for daily record auditing. This role collaborates with the Manager to ensure data integrity, trains inpatient coding staff, and serves as a resource on coded data issues. The auditor also works with the Clinical Documentation Improvement team to ensure charts have consistent, clear documentation reflecting inpatient admissions.

The value you’ll bring to the team:

• Review records for DRG and overall coding accuracy, both retrospectively and concurrently.
• Address all third-party and regulatory agency requests for DRG changes or quality studies.
• Review and report on monthly pre-bill accounts for coding accuracy.
• Code and abstract charts following ICD-10-CM conventions, applying relevant coding rules and policies.
• Assign DRGs according to UHDDS rules, ICD-10 conventions, and policies.
• Participate in mortality and risk adjustment reviews when assigned.
• Assist with post-payment DRG appeals.
• Maintain a 98% accuracy rate.
• Support goals for accounts discharged but not yet billed.
• Review and correct information for the Agency for Healthcare Administration (AHCA).

The expertise and experience you’ll need to succeed:

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience coding inpatient records.
• CCS certification required; RHIA or RHIT accepted in lieu of CCS.
