Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Inpatient Coding Auditor to join our team. This individual will be responsible for conducting comprehensive reviews of inpatient coding for accuracy, specificity, and compliance with coding guidelines, with a focus on Level I Trauma cases. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, experience using Meditech and 3M CAC systems, and the ability to present findings and education plans to leadership. Must have your own equipment.
Responsibilities:

• Conduct annual audits of inpatient charts, focusing on Level I Trauma cases.
• Validate and verify codes, specificities, and acuities using 3M CAC.
• Analyze audit findings, trends, and error rates.
• Create executive reports and summaries.
• Communicate audit findings, trends, and recommendations to leadership.
• Develop and conduct formal education sessions for coders, both in group settings and one-on-one.
• Meet with ECMC’s and RCM’s Coding Director and Coding Manager to share/review findings and determine next steps for education based on trends.
• Address missed diagnosis queries.

Productivity/Quality:

• Audit Portion: Roughly 1-1.5 charts/hour.
• Analysis & Executive Reporting.
• Education.

Must Haves:

• AHIMA Certification: RHIT or CCS.
• Experience with Meditech EHR.
• Proficiency with 3M CAC.
• Experience auditing inpatient Level I Trauma cases.
• Comfortability with meeting leadership to communicate audit findings and discuss education plans.
• Experience creating and conducting formal education sessions.
• Your own equipment (dual-monitors, headphones/headset, high-speed internet)
