Position Type:Short-Term, temporary (3/4 Months)

Estimated Length of Assignment:Minimum expectation of 20-25 hours per week
Salary:$35-45 per hour
Work Authorization:Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Outpatient Coding Auditor to join our team. This individual will be responsible for conducting comprehensive reviews of inpatient coding for accuracy, specificity, and compliance with coding guidelines, with a focus on Level I Trauma cases. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, experience using Meditech and 3M CAC systems, and the ability to present findings and education plans to leadership.
Responsibilities:

• Conduct annual audits of outpatient charts, focusing on ED, SDS, and Observation cases.
• Validate and verify codes, specificities, and acuities using 3M CAC.
• Analyze audit findings, trends, and error rates.
• Create executive reports and summaries.
• Communicate audit findings, trends, and recommendations to leadership.
• Develop and conduct formal education sessions for coders, both in group settings and one-on-one.
• Meet with ECMC’s and RCM’s Coding Director and Coding Manager to share/review findings and determine next steps for education based on trends.
• Review charge entry sheets, especially for ED services like medications and infusions.

Productivity/Quality:

• Audit Portion: Roughly 4-6 charts/hour.

Must Haves:

• Experience with Meditech EHR.
• Proficiency with 3M CAC.
• Experience auditing ED, SDS, and Observation charts.
• Comfortability with meeting leadership to communicate audit findings and discuss education plans.
• Experience creating and conducting formal education sessions.
• Experience reviewing charge entry sheets.
• Certifications: AHIMA or AAPC certifications.

Additional Information:

• ED utilizes Optum Lynx for E/M.
• Observations: 48-hour carve-out policy for observations, built into Lynx.
• SDS: Straightforward diagnosis and CPT code.
• Internal Managed Services: Will provide an overview of audit deliverables and train on the process and audit sheet.
• Schedule: Flexible
• Must have your own equipment (Dual-Monitors, Headphones/Headset, High-Speed Internet)
