Job summary

Kaiser Permanente is seeking an experienced Inpatient Coder to accurately code and abstract inpatient cases, including OBS, HAS, ED and CHOY services, in accordance with ICD-CM/ICD-PCS, CPT, and related guidelines.

Under supervision, you will prioritize work, verify data integrity, and work with physicians to clarify documentation while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies.

Qualifications

• Three years of hospital coding experience within the last five years.
• High School Diploma or GED with coursework in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD-CM/ICD-PCS and CPT coding conventions.
• Certified Coding Specialist OR RHIT OR RHIA credential.

Responsibilities

• Code and abstract inpatient diagnoses and procedures using ICD-CM/ICD-PCS and CPT.
• Prioritize work to ensure timely, compliant coding.
• Determine DRG and resolve discrepancies in coding.
• Interact with physicians to clarify documentation for accurate coding.
• Maintain data privacy and adhere to coding guidelines and regulations.
• Meet productivity and quality standards for the role.
