Job summary

BJC HealthCare is hiring an Inpatient Coder II for a PRN position. The candidate will code inpatient encounters, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance across DRG assignments. Requirements include 2-5 years of inpatient coding experience and CCS, RHIA, or RHIT certification.

Remote eligible states include Missouri among others; strong collaboration with CDI, HIM Operations, and other departments is expected to maintain record integrity and coding compliance.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years inpatient coding experience.
• Must have CCS, RHIA, or RHIT certification.

Responsibilities

• Accurately abstracts data elements as required.
• Stays current of coding conventions, regulatory guidelines, code updates and BJC coding guidance.
• Reviews and analyzes patient encounters for compliant coding; queries providers for clarification as required.
• Assigns codes in a timely manner; interprets provider documentation for appropriate DRG assignment.
• Collaborates with leadership, CDI, HIM Operations and other departments to ensure integrity of medical records and coding compliance.
