Job summary

Guidehouse, a leading professional services firm, is seeking an experienced Inpatient Facility Coder in the United States (Oregon region). The role focuses on quality hospital coding for inpatient accounts across Medicare and non-Medicare, with emphasis on accuracy, regulatory compliance, and timely documentation.

Requires 5+ years of inpatient facility coding experience and credentials (RHIA, RHIT or CCS).

Qualifications

• 5+ years of inpatient facility coding experience.
• Rehab inpatient facility coding experience with IRF/PAI admissions and discharges.
• RHIA, RHIT or CCS credentials are required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs quality hospital coding on inpatient accounts (Medicare/Non Medicare).
• Maintains knowledge of ICD-10-PCS, regulations, guidelines and third-party requirements.
• Codes all services documented in the patient chart with appropriate ICD-10/PCS codes.
• Seek proper documentation when needed and maintain accuracy ~96%.
• Meet productivity standards (e.g., 1 IP chart per hour coded).
• Follow facility policies, process pending queues, and CDI reconciliation.
• Communicate re-bill needs to facility daily; report downtime as required.
• Provide answers to physician/hospital coding questions within eight hours.

What You Will Do:

• Demonstrates the ability to perform quality hospital coding on Inpatient accounts including Medicare/Non Medicare, Surgical, Medical, Cardiac, moms/babies, and trauma cases
• Maintains a working knowledge of ICD-10 PCS, governmental regulations, official coding guidelines, and third-party requirements regarding documentation and billing
• Assures that all services documented in the patient's chart are coded with appropriate ICD-10/PCS codes
• When services/diagnoses are not documented appropriately, seeks to attain proper documentation in a timely manner according to facility standards
• Achieves and maintains 96% accuracy in coding while maintaining a high level of productivity
• Ability to maintain average productivity standards as follows: 1 IP charts per hour final coded (these productivity standards are Guidehouse general expectations and are subject to change based upon Guidehouse client agreements and/or other factors as determined by management. Notification of expected productivity will be conveyed by Management prior to assignment of a client project)
• Responsible for following facility specific policies and procedures
• Works pending queues daily
• Follows facility query policy and CDI reconciliation process
• Charts that require re-bills are corrected and communicated to the facility daily for the re-bill process. See re-bills policy in facility guidelines
• Coder downtime must be reported immediately to the administrative staff to ensure turnaround is met
• Provides accurate answers to physician's/hospitals coding and/or billing questions within eight hours of request

What You Will Need:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Must be hold one of the following credentials: RHIA, RHIT, CCS
• 5+ years of Inpatient Facility coding experience
• Rehab Inpatient Facility coding experience with admissions (IRF/PAI) & discharges

What Would Be Nice To Have:

• Knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology and Medical Terminology
• Associates Degree

The annual salary range for this position is $59,000.00-$98,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
