Hialeah-Hospital seeks a Medical Record Coder to review patient records and assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes that reflect admission reason, care level, and illness severity. The coder ensures data elements for federal/state reporting are captured and entered for billing purposes.
Preferred credentials include RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or completion of ICD-10/PCS 4 coding programs, with 2–3 years inpatient coding experience preferred. Strong English, organizational, and physician-contact skills are required.
Position Summary:
Medical Record Coder is responsible for timely review of patient records in order to identify an appropriate selection of ICD-10-CM/PCS codes that will accurately reflect the reason for admission, extent of care received, and level of severity of illness. Coder is further responsible for insuring that all data elements required for federal and state reporting are collected and included in the patient's demographic record. Accounts for each Inpatient and Outpatient records in order that all are coded. Enters coded data into computer to facilitate the billing process.
