Job summary

micro1 is seeking an Inpatient Coder (CCS) on a remote US-based contract to help train AI systems. You will review inpatient records to ensure ICD-10 and CPT coding aligns with guidelines, assess documentation accuracy, and code AI-generated content using standard coding classifications.

The role emphasizes maintaining coding integrity, resolving discrepancies, and data entry into clinical record databases, with a commitment of at least 10 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Active coding certification (CCS/CIC/COC/RHIA/RHIT or AHIMA/AAPC)
• Strong ICD-10 knowledge and CPT experience
• Access to current ICD-10/CPT references and E&M guidelines

Responsibilities

Role Title: Inpatient Coder (CCS)

micro1 is engaging Inpatient Coders to contribute to a valued project focused on enhancing clinical coding accuracy and data quality. In this role, you'll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input.

Scope of Work

1. Review and analyze inpatient medical records to ensure accurate ICD-10 and CPT coding in alignment with current guidelines and best practices.
2. Review clinical documentation for accuracy, completeness, and coding integrity.
3. Evaluate AI-generated clinical notes and summaries against real-world documentation and coding standards.
4. Code AI-generated diagnostic and procedural information from the record using ICD and CPT/HCPCS classification systems.
5. Identify and resolve discrepancies in diagnosis and procedure coding, ensuring the integrity of record abstraction and data capture.
6. Enter AI-generated patient information into computerized inpatient and outpatient medical record databases.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Active certification in one of the following: CCS, CIC, COC, RHIA, or RHIT or other coding certification through AHIMA and AAPC.
2. ICD-10 coding experience.
3. Access to up-to-date official ICD-10 and CPT coding books, as well as E&M guidelines.
4. Currently working in medical coding, clinical documentation improvement, or a closely related documentation role
5. Availability of at least 10 hours per week
