Job summary

DaMar Staffing is seeking an In-patient Coder to manage coding and data abstraction for Hospital (Acute) In-patient visits. The role focuses on CABG, Orthopedic, and Medical cases, with use of the 3M 360 Encoder HDM to streamline coding and billing.

Essential functions include assigning ICD-10-CM/PCS codes, generating physician queries, reviewing claims for medical necessity, and ensuring accurate DRG assignment.

Qualifications

• 2 year degree or equivalent experience; AHIMA or AAPC certification REQUIRED.
• Actively holds one or more of the following credentials: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, COC.
• Experience coding CABG, Ortho, and Med cases REQUIRED.
• Experience working with 3M 360 Encoder HDM REQUIRED.

Responsibilities

• Inpatient: Assign ICD-10-CM and PCS codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Create compliant physician queries.
• Review claims for medical necessity.
• Update problem lists per client contract.
• Assign present-on-admission indicators.
• Float between multiple sites and coding specialties.
