Job summary

BJC Healthcare in Alton, Illinois is seeking a licensed pharmacist to join our inpatient pharmacy team. The role focuses on medication therapy management, patient counseling and ensuring safe, accurate dispensing in a fast-paced hospital setting.

The position requires licensure in Missouri and Illinois, with a 7 on 7 off schedule (1 PM–11 PM) and holiday rotations. Join a team dedicated to clinical excellence and patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Assess, monitor, initiate and modify medication use according to patient condition and age-specific criteria.
• Ensure prompt and accurate medication preparation and dispensing.
• Prevent, direct and resolve medication-related issues.

Responsibilities

• Directs and manages workflow including oversight of technicians, interns and volunteers ensuring accuracy of their work in accordance with procedures and regulations.
• Participates in departmental meetings and on committees as appropriate.
• Serves as medication therapy resource for drug information, training of staff and transitions of care.
• Evaluates medication orders for appropriateness with regard to patient condition and concomitant therapies.
• Documents all activities and communication as appropriate.
• Recognize opportunities and propose solutions to maximize efficiency and safety in the medication use process.
