Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking two Inpatient Clinical Dietitians to independently plan, implement, and oversee nutrition care for Veterans with complex needs.

The role supports mission-driven care and requires collaboration with physicians, nurses, and other dietitians to coordinate comprehensive nutrition services. Qualified applicants will be RDN/RD registered with the CDR and must meet GS-7/9/11 requirements or have a Master’s degree for higher grade eligibility.

Qualifications

• Must be registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) or Registered Dietitian (RD) registered with CDR.
• Must meet English language proficiency and U.S. citizenship requirements.
• Experience or eligible to obtain required credentials per GS-7/GS-9/GS-11 levels.
• Foreign education must meet ACEND standards as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments using the NCP to establish diagnosis.
• Develop and implement Medical Nutrition Therapy to address nutrition diagnosis.
• Monitor and evaluate MNT outcomes and adjust plans accordingly.
• Calculate nutrient needs and tailor diet prescriptions per patient.
• Document MNT in the medical record using ADIME format.
• Collaborate with healthcare team and participate in interdisciplinary meetings.
• Provide nutrition education/counseling to patients and groups.
