Job summary

CHRISTUS Health in Texas is seeking a Child Life Specialist to develop and implement developmental activities for pediatric patients, coordinating inpatient playroom programming and family-centered care.

Under supervision of the Director of Child Life/Child Development, you will guide volunteers, manage materials, document interactions, and participate in staff meetings and training to enhance patient experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• Previous experience working with children is required.
• 1–3 years of work experience with children is preferred.
• BLS certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements programming that promotes optimal development for children in the healthcare setting and supports family members.
• Supervises Child Life volunteers and coordinates with student programming as needed.
• Plans, orders, and collects materials and equipment to support therapeutic and educational activities within budgeted guidelines.
• Promotes a family-centered environment and serves as a liaison for community partners and donors.
• Attends in-services and staff meetings; maintains reports and productivity data; participates in annual reports.
