Job summary

Optum is seeking a Clinical Document Improvement Specialist Manager to oversee CDI programs and day-to-day CDI processes for inpatient records at Optum 360 clients. You will supervise staff, coach providers, and drive documentation accuracy to support proper code assignment and patient condition reflection.

Travel between facilities is required; you will mentor CDI staff, perform audits, and collaborate with the CDI Director and physicians to improve documentation quality.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of acute care hospital clinical RN experience OR Medical Graduate with CDI experience and CDI certification (CCDS/CDIP).
• 2+ years of experience communicating and presenting to physicians.
• Proficiency with Windows PC, Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint and Electronic Medical Records.
• Ability to work in Chandler, AZ.

Responsibilities

• Conduct chart audits, quality audits and KPI audits.
• Oversee CDI staff training, orientation and workflow.
• Lead physician education and on-site presentations.
• Coordinate with CDI Director on projects and tasks.
• Ensure CDI staff review inpatient records within 24-48 hours of admit and identify documentation gaps.
• Provide regular updates and feedback to providers regarding clarifications and improvements.
