Job summary

San Joaquin County is seeking a Staff Nurse V in Inpatient Case Management to lead the nursing unit, plan schedules, and ensure high-quality patient care. The role requires strong supervisory and clinical skills and collaboration with hospital divisions.

The position involves overseeing care plans, coordinating services, and contributing to quality improvement while maintaining compliance with nursing standards and licensing requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience: Three years of experience as a registered nurse in an acute care or mental health facility at a level equivalent to a San Joaquin County Staff Nurse III.
• Substitution: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or related field may substitute for one year of experience.
• Licenses and Certificates: Current registration as a nurse in the State of California.
• Special Requirements: MICN/ACLS and ICU/CCU training may be required for certain assignments.

Responsibilities

• Supervises staff and assists with management of the unit; plans and schedules; assigns work to ensure high quality patient care and participates in selecting new employees.
• Participates in formulating and implementing nursing policies and coordinates services with other hospital divisions.
• Oversees nursing care plans and may coordinate insurance billing and related procedures; assists with budget development and quality control measures.
• Initiates nursing process and prepares nursing care plans; evaluates total nursing needs of patients including physical, psychological, spiritual, cultural and socio-economic aspects.
• Maintains records and participates in performance improvement studies.
