Job summary

Oceans Behavioral Hospital Waco is seeking a dedicated Behavioral Health Technician to support nursing staff and maintain a therapeutic milieu for adults and seniors receiving inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care, using compassionate, patient-centered approaches.

In this role you will perform vital signs, assist with activities of daily living, monitor nutrition and intake, document observations, and communicate findings to the nurse promptly.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; CNA certification or 6 months of direct patient care experience preferred.
• Must be able to read, write and follow instruction; excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be able to work with diverse populations and apply age, disability and cultural sensitivity in care delivery.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to professional standards and follow policies and Joint Commission requirements.
• Provide de-escalation and therapeutic interventions as needed.
• Inventory patient belongings and perform unit safety checks.
• Assist with vital signs, ADL, intake/output documentation, and dietary monitoring.
• Document patient observations accurately and communicate findings to the nurse in a timely manner.
• Support patients with mobility, meals, and daily activities while maintaining dignity and confidentiality.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
