Job summary

Oceans Behavioral Hospital Broussard is seeking a dedicated Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to support the nursing staff in delivering compassionate care to adults and seniors with anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges. You will help maintain a therapeutic milieu and carry out patient care activities within your training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to policies and procedures, Joint Commission standards, and federal/state requirements.
• Apply supportive de-escalation and therapeutic interventions for challenging behavior.
• Inventory patient belongings, secure contraband, and complete unit safety checks.
• Follow infection control policies and universal precautions; attend required in-services.
• Perform patient care tasks under supervision: vital signs, ADL, intake/output, dietary monitoring.
• Assist patients with mobility, meals, bathroom functions, and personal belongings; tailor care to age/needs.
• Document patient observations and departures accurately within defined timelines.
• Communicate task outcomes and follow-ups to nursing staff to ensure continuity of care.
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
