Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Staff Nurse Inpatient to provide expert nursing care to acutely ill patients in an approved unit. The role requires a BSN, an active Illinois RN license, and BLS certification.

The shift is 7:00 pm–11:30 pm with rotating weekends, emphasizing assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. The nurse will collaborate with patients, families, and a multidisciplinary team, participate in governance, and apply evidence-based practice to improve outcomes.

Qualifications

• BSN required or in progress with plan to obtain BSN within 3 years
• Current Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Responsibilities

• Collects and analyzes data, identifies outcomes, and develops an individualized plan of care
• Directs care and coordinates nursing care with any assistants
• Collaborates with patient, family, physicians and staff to communicate plans and outcomes
• Participates in shared governance, committees, and unit projects
• Evaluates patient responses and documents the plan of care
• Uses best available evidence to guide practice decisions
