Job summary

Hartford HealthCare's St. Vincent's Behavioral Health Center in Westport is seeking a Mental Health Worker to provide direct behavioral health patient care on the first shift (7:00am–3:30pm).

This role involves assisting with activities of daily living, observing patient conditions, and contributing to treatment plan execution in a hospital setting. The position requires an associates degree preferred, behavioral health experience, and BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Associates degree preferred in behavioral health related field.
• Behavioral health experience and college courses in psychology preferred.
• Certified BLS Provider credentialed from AHA or Red Cross within 3 months of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients with activities of daily living.
• Provides or assists with direct patient care, diagnostic procedures and therapeutic interventions.
• Observes and records patient behavior and activities; reports changes and suggests modifications to treatment plan.
• Establishes a therapeutic relationship with assigned patients.
• Reviews assignment with supervising RN and seeks clarification when unsure of expectations.
• Maintains open communication with teammates about progress of assignment.
• Demonstrates knowledge and skills to provide care for behavioral health patients in a timely, individualized manner.
• Provides patient comfort by tasks/services that optimize satisfaction.
• Ensures patient safety to prevent injury.
• Contributes to efficient departmental operations to control costs and ensure productivity.
