Job summary

Hartford HealthCare's Institute of Living seeks a patient care assistant to support nurses in observing and monitoring patients with behavioral health needs. You will help with personal care and daily living activities while upholding care plans and safety policies.

The role requires a High School Diploma, strong communication skills, and CPR/crisis intervention training within 3 months of hire. Experience in psychiatric-mental health or medical-surgical settings is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in psychiatric-mental health setting or medical-surgical setting preferred.
• If working with specialty populations (geriatrics or children/adolescents), preferred experience with that population.
• Strong communication skills required.
• CPR and crisis intervention training completed within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist nurses in observing and monitoring patients' behavior and physical condition.
• Perform basic patient care tasks including assistance with personal hygiene and daily living activities.
• Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment and report to Nurse Manager.
• Encourage patient participation in recreational and therapeutic activities.
