Job summary

Atlantic Health is seeking a Bed Management Coordinator to plan bed placement for patients entering inpatient, extended recovery or observation status. You will review records, coordinate admissions and transfers with the Transfer Center, physicians' offices, and hospital units to ensure proper bed placement.

You will also obtain bed assignments for internal patients and transfer patients as needed, maintaining accurate documentation and following hospital procedures.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in a Healthcare Facility, Hospital System or relevant area preferred.
• Experience with EPIC, PCT or Unit Associate preferred.
• Medical terminology experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reviews patients' medical records to assign beds per physicians' orders and patient needs.
• Coordinates admissions and transfers with the Patient Transfer Center, physicians' offices, and other units based on bed assignment.
• Obtains bed assignments for internal patients (ED, PACU, ICU, etc.) and other units to ensure proper placement.
• Transfers patients in-house as needed, prioritizing critical transfers and following hospital procedures.
• Maintains accurate bed control documentation and worksheets.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
