Job summary

Allegheny Health Network, part of Highmark Health, seeks a Physician Assistant to provide specialty and critical care services in an inpatient setting with 24/7 coverage. Qualifications

• Required Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies.
• Current PA license (PA-C) or board eligible.
• Substitutions: Four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Preferred 1 year of experience in Physician Assistant.
• Additional requirements: NCCPA recertification, DEA licensure, CPR/ACLS, background clearances, and state licensure.
• Practicing-state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner hypotheses appear in the description; if applicable may be included as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provides comprehensive patient care for acute inpatients, including rounds and treatment plans.
• Orders and interprets labs, imaging, and studies and collaborates with the team.
• Initiates emergency measures for acute patient situations.
• Maintains accurate EMR documentation for billing and care coordination.
• Facilitates communication with patients and families and coordinates with interdisciplinary team.
• Communicates plan of care with attending physician and seeks guidance as needed.
• Maintains continuing education and engages in patient safety and quality initiatives.
• Performs rounds and executes physician orders in line with privileges.
