Job summary

Lexington Health in Columbia, SC seeks a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant to support rehabilitation care. Under the supervision of a physical therapist, you will administer prescribed interventions and monitor patient progress across pediatric to geriatric populations, using exercises, manual therapy and modalities.

You will document treatment data, discharge summaries, and educate patients and families on home programs, while coordinating with nursing and other departments to ensure

Job Summary

Assist the physical therapist by administering physical therapy services designed to restore function and prevent disability following trauma or disease through the use of various physical therapy measurements, exercises and modalities.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate of a physical therapist assistant program approved by the State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners.
• No minimum years of experience required.
• No substitute education or experience.
• Licensed physical therapist assistant in the State of South Carolina by the State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners.
• CPR certification.

Essential Functions

• Works under the supervision of a physical therapist to administer direct physical therapy patient care as outlined in the treatment plan.
• Provides developmentally appropriate care for patient populations: child (1-12 years), adolescent (13-17 years), adult (18-65 years), geriatric (over 65 years).
• Administers physical therapy treatments to relieve pain, develop or restore function and maintain performance using therapeutic exercise, manual therapy and modalities.
• Monitors progress using physical therapy tests and measurements such as muscle testing, functional ability, and range of motion.
• Documents patient treatment data, progress notes, and discharge summaries as directed by CMS and state practice act.
• Instructs patients and families in home program.
• Represents department and communicates with interdisciplinary team for discharge planning and coordination of services during hospital stay.
• Attends patient care conferences and provides in-services to other hospital departments such as nursing and housekeeping.
• Assists in supervising rehab techs and students.
