Job summary

The Allen Institute seeks an Associate Investigator to lead proteomic and connectomic analyses of human brain tissues in health and disease, especially neurodegenerative disease. You will drive methodological development for tissue prep and advanced imaging with cross-team collaboration.

Ideal candidates have a strong publication record, capable leadership, and a history of scientific scholarship. This onsite role offers a collaborative environment and opportunities in translational brain

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. and/or MD/PhD in neuroscience, biology, physics, engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 7 years relevant experience with strong publication record.
  • Domain knowledge in cellular and circuit neuroscience, especially synaptic connectivity.
  • Experience working independently and in collaborative, fast-paced settings.
  • Experience collaborating with external partners to achieve objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead breakthrough research and deployment of state-of-the-art methods in cellular and circuit neuroscience.
  • Contribute to a larger discovery science effort on neurodegenerative diseases.
  • Advise and mentor scientists and technicians in proteomic and connectomic studies.
  • Contribute to Alzheimer’s research as part of SEA-AD consortium.
  • Collaborate across teams on related technologies or disease areas.
  • Develop scalable methods for cleared/expanded human tissues.
  • Develop high-affinity reagents for labeling targets.
  • Explore new cutting-edge techniques and collaborate with data scientists.
  • Publish and present findings in peer-reviewed forums.
  • Seek external funding through grants and foundations.
