Job summary

ELBA CITY SCHOOLS is seeking a Special Education Teacher to develop and implement IEPs, plan differentiated instruction, and collaborate with staff to support students with special needs. The role emphasizes creating a positive classroom climate, maintaining records, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and policies.

The position reports to the Principal and may supervise aides as assigned, with a focus on individualized student growth and maintaining high expectations for learning

Qualifications

• Requires ability to develop and implement an Individual Education Plan (IEP).
• Knowledge of child development and characteristics of mentally handicapped students.
• Strong communication skills with students, parents and staff.

Responsibilities

• Create and write annual IEPs based on curriculum priorities and student needs.
• Plan and deliver instructional activities accommodating diverse learning styles and handicapping conditions.
• Establish a safe, engaging learning environment and monitor student progress with regular assessments.
• Administer and proctor standardized tests and maintain accurate records.
