Job summary

Illinois Tool Works in Danvers, IL is seeking a Product Chemist to drive a robust portfolio of chemistries and materials in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. You will support acrylic, polyurethane, and epoxy adhesive formulations for energy, transportation, wear & abrasion, and general industrial markets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Chemistry with emphasis on polymers and materials.
• 0–5 years of hands-on industrial R&D experience in chemical product development.
• Adhesives and coatings formulation experience preferred.
• Strong computer, organizational, and testing skills.
• Fluency with Word, Excel, and Access; experience with polymer testing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Support chemical and material formulation changes and implementation of acrylic, polyurethane, and epoxy adhesive compositions for energy, transportation, wear & abrasion, and general industrial markets.
• Transfer technology and products across sites and geographies by understanding monomers, polymers, catalysts, modifiers, in specialty adhesives & coatings while complying with ISO requirements.
• Provide short- and long-term support for current products to maintain ITW’s reputation for quality and performance by qualifying alternative sources of raw materials and validating performance.
• Manage multiple projects/tasks independently and as part of a team and fully utilize analytical laboratory equipment.
• Work hands-on in the laboratory and, when necessary, collaborate with and guide activities of a research lab technician(s).
• When necessary, support improvements of laboratory capabilities at Danvers.
• Promote, support, and adhere to all safety, environmental, and quality policies and procedures.
