Job summary

Lane College in Jackson, TN seeks an Interim Instructor of Physical Education and Recreation. You will teach both introductory and upper-level courses, including major courses in traditional, blended, and online formats, and provide academic advising to students.

The ideal candidate holds a PhD in Physical Education or a related field (master's considered) with collegiate teaching experience and familiarity with Blackboard/CAMS and hybrid delivery modalities.

Qualifications

• PhD in Physical Education or related field; Master’s degree required.
• Evidence of successful collegiate teaching experience.
• First Aid/CPR/AED Certification and Water Safety Instructor Certification are advantages.
• Experience with hands-on teaching and online/hybrid modalities.
• Ability to work with diverse student body in a collegiate environment.
• Physical requirements include walking, stairs, lifting up to 10 lbs, and some travel.

Responsibilities

• Teach introductory level courses each semester and upper-level courses.
• Teach major courses in traditional, blended, and online formats.
• Provide academic advising.
• Participate in departmental, divisional, and institutional activities.
• Demonstrate strong supervisory and leadership skills to manage the classroom.
• Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication and professionalism.
• Contribute to creating an inclusive learning environment for a diverse student body.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chair.
