Job summary

TEGNA Inc. is seeking an innovative Producer for WVEC-TV Hampton to shape daily newscasts and elevate storytelling across platforms. You will pitch stories, craft multi-platform reports and guide live coverage with strong visuals and sound.

Ideal candidates bring a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, 0–1 years of content experience, and excellent communication. ENPS and Edius experience are preferred for seamless production workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience in journalism or related field.
• 0-1 years of news content experience.
• Top-notch communication skills are required.
• Solid journalistic judgment with emphasis on accurate, fair local content and community engagement.
• Understanding of professional journalism tenets.
• Ability to produce engaging, content-driven newscasts and digital content.
• Strong social media presence and activity across platforms.
• Organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Calm under live, breaking news situations.

Responsibilities

• Pitch compelling stories using natural curiosity.
• Show creativity and storytelling across platforms.
• Craft stories of varying lengths for specific audiences.
• Combine live visuals, graphics, video and sound for engaging experiences.
• Provide continuous coverage on live streams for breaking news and events.
• Experiment with new approaches after supervisor discussion.

• Challenge traditional production methods.
