Qualifications

• Eligible for Virginia teaching license with endorsement.
• Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in area of specialization or an acceptable field.

Responsibilities

• Establishes flexible middle school instructional program and class environment favorable to learning; teaching a broad range of subjects or specialized subject matter(s).
• Develops lesson plans and uses instructional materials; translates lesson plans into learning experiences; integrates subject area content and technology.
• Instructs students in area(s) of specialization and subject matter specified in state law and admin regulations; establishes and maintains standards of behavior.
• Adapts teaching materials and methods to develop relevant sequential assignments; develops standards for critical analysis through group discussions.
• Evaluates students' progress and maintains records; communicates with students, counselors and parents; participates in curriculum development and standardized testing.
