Job summary

Allegion seeks a Mechanical Engineer to design, analyze and launch door hardware products at our Princeton, IL facility. You will translate customer needs into technical specs, support engineering deliverables, and collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing to improve designs and reduce cost.

Qualified candidates have a BS ME/BS MET and at least 2 years of relevant experience, with proficiency in FMEA, GD&T, DOE and DFA.

Qualifications

• BSME or BSMET is required.
• Minimum of 2 years relevant experience.
• Ability to use design tools including FMEA, Root Causes Analysis, DOE, GD&T, Tol stacks up & DFA.
• Preferred Creo experience.
• Preferred understanding of common manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Conceive, design, develop and analyze new Mechanical/Electronic door hardware
• Improve upon current designs by reducing cost and increasing robustness and reliability
• Ability to communicate in a professional, positive, courteous manner with all levels of management, customers, vendors, visitors and employees
• Willingness to spend up to 50% of time in a manufacturing plant environment
• Self-motivated with ability to establish priorities and effectively manage time to complete multiple tasks within specified timeframes
• Ability to work independently and/or cooperatively and effectively in a team environment
• Ability to apply basic problem solving and engineering analysis to complex product and process related issues
• Communicate project status through reports, presentations and design reviews
• Work with suppliers to source and evaluate purchased components
• Work with manufacturing to produce or assemble manufactured components and assemblies
• Periodic customer contact. May participate in customer presentations
