Job summary

Providence Public Schools District (PPSD) seeks an exceptional ELEMENTARY ART TEACHER to join our community of teachers, students and stakeholders. The role emphasizes structured literacy awareness within one year of hire and meets Rhode Island standards on reading and arts education.

We serve approximately 22,000 students across 37 schools and encourage teachers who value differentiation, data-driven instruction and engaging curricula. This is a full-time position reporting to the principal.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education or related field.
• RIDE PK-12 Art certification required.
• ESL certification preferred.
• Citizenship/residency/work authorization required

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials for active learning.
• Instruct and monitor students using technology to support differentiated instruction.
• Establish clear objectives and provide feedback on assignments.
• Maintain a warm, welcoming classroom and culturally responsive environment.
• Use data to monitor progress and adjust teaching strategies.
• Keep accurate records of student progress and communicate with families.
