Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Design Engineering Specialist to design, develop, build, and implement new engine products and components.

You will help design and troubleshoot 7L-9L inline-6 diesel engine systems for machines, gensets, and external sales opportunities. You will guide design evolution, perform testing, analyze materials, and oversee prototype fabrication and reliability testing to ensure safety, quality, and cost targets.

Qualifications

• Degree in accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum.
• Analytical thinking with root-cause analysis and structured problem solving.
• Experience in design engineering, development, testing, and project planning.

Responsibilities

• Develop design parameters, performance characteristics, and technical specs for products and components.
• Guide evolution of technical design, project planning, and detail design; participate in supplier assessment.
• Monitor and test new technologies and materials for product/process improvement opportunities.
• Construct and fabricate prototypes; oversee materials selection, process optimization and reliability testing.
