Job summary

Kuhn Group in Wisconsin seeks a Design Engineer to design major components and subsystems for Kuhn and Kuhn Knight branded equipment. You will develop designs aligned with customer needs, manufacturability, cost and safety, and collaborate with product management, sales, and manufacturing to finalize specifications.

You will create design specs, run tests, set tolerances, and select hydraulic and power transmission components while using CAD to produce drawings and BOMs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in agricultural or mechanical engineering.
• Knowledge of machining, steel fabrication, and welding is essential.
• Farming background with hay tools, spreaders and mixers is required.

Responsibilities

• Design major components and subsystems for Kuhn and Kuhn Knight branded equipment.
• Develop designs based on customer needs, manufacturability, cost and safety.
• Develop design specifications with product management, sales, marketing and manufacturing.
• Develop test plans and direct testing of the design with test personnel.
• Set product quality and tolerance specifications for designs.
• Design and/or select hydraulic, power transmission, and structural components.
• Perform engineering design calculations for Kuhn Knight products.
• Operate CAD software to design, layout drawings and develop bills of materials.
• Work with manufacturing to develop tooling and new processes.
• Gain knowledge of Kuhn and Kuhn Knight products by attending trade shows and monitoring competitors.
