Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is seeking an art teacher to deliver instruction in visual arts, art history, and related skills under supervision. The teacher will develop lesson plans, monitor student progress, and align with district curriculum, while adhering to policy and safety standards.

Position is certified, full-time for 10 months and primarily on-site at district schools. Collaboration with administrators, PLCs, and parents will support student success and program goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Valid NC Teaching certification or eligible for NC Teaching certification in Art area.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures.
• Assist administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
• Plan and implement a program of study in visual arts meeting student needs.
• Instruct students individually and in groups using varied teaching methods.
• Create a classroom environment that engages students and achieves learning objectives.
• Prepare for classes and provide written evidence of preparation upon request.
• Provide instruction meeting needs of all students including those with disabilities and limited English proficiency.
• Confer with parents/guardians, counselors, and administrators to resolve challenges.
• Attend PLCs and professional development sessions for instructional planning.
