Responsibilities

• Develops and administers school elementary curriculum consistent with district goals and objectives.
• Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction.
• Develops lesson plans and translates plans into learning experiences to maximize instructional time.
• Assesses student learning and adjusts instruction for diverse needs, including students with disabilities.
• Instructs students in citizenship and other subjects in line with laws and district procedures.
• Engages in ongoing professional development and research to improve practice.
• Maintains accurate records of grading, attendance and student progress as required by policy.
• Encourages parental involvement and maintains open communication with families.
• Ensures student conduct aligns with school and district standards and policies.
• Coordinates with grade-level staff to evaluate curriculum and participates in meetings and committees.
• Selects and requisitions appropriate books and instructional materials and maintains inventories.
• Supervises students during activities outside the classroom, including transportation.
• Administers standardized tests according to district programs.
