Job summary

Alcorn State University in Mississippi seeks an Educator for Area 4-H Youth Development Extension to coordinate educational events and collaborate with local agencies and producers to promote environmentally sound farming practices.

The role includes delivering farm management programs, conducting on-farm demonstrations, and developing proposals with Extension Specialists and other educators.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a field of study related to crops science, horticulture, soil science, entomology or plant pathology.
• Three (3) years related experience.

Responsibilities

• Identify and form work partnerships with local organizations to deliver educational events and activities.
• Work with producers and agricultural associations to improve production and profitability using environmentally sound methods.
• Conduct on-farm demonstrations emphasizing soil prep, production, harvesting, and marketing of alternative crops.
• Maintain relationships with Extension Specialists and Area Extension Educators to develop project proposals in high priority areas.
• Implement educational programs on farm management, including financial management, herd health, management and business analysis, risk management workshops, tours and demonstrations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
