Job summary

The role requires collaborating with producers, Extension Specialists, and community groups to plan demonstrations, workshops, and public-private initiatives; travel to multiple sites and a commitment to evidence-based teaching.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in crops science, horticulture, soil science, entomology or plant pathology.
• Three (3) years related experience.

Responsibilities

• Identify and form partnerships with local organizations to deliver educational events.
• Collaborate with producers and associations to improve production and profitability using sound eco-friendly recommendations.
• Conduct on-farm demonstrations using current research-based information on soil, production, harvesting and marketing of alternative crops.
• Maintain relationships with Extension Specialists and other Area Extension Educators to develop and implement proposals.
• Deliver educational programs on farm management including financial management, herd health, management and business analysis, risk management workshops, tours and other teaching methods.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Essential Job Functions

• Identification and formation of work partnerships with relevantlocal organizations, agencies and institutions to delivereducational events and activities


• Works with producers and agricultural related associations toexplore strategies for improving production and profitability basedon environmentally sound recommendations


• Conducts on-farm demonstrations utilizing currentresearch-based information emphasizing soil preparation andquality; production, harvesting and the marketing of alternativecrops


• Maintains a working relationship with Extension Specialists andother Area Extension Educators to develop and implement projectproposals in high priority areas

• Implementation of educational programs regarding farmmanagement, including financial management, herd health, managementand business analysis, risk management workshops, short courses,tours, demonstrations, and other appropriate teaching and deliverymethod


• Other related duties, as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Education

Bachelor’s degree in a field of studyrelated to crops science, horticulture, soil science, entomology orplant pathology
