Job summary

Novartis invites applications for the Biomedical Research Postdoctoral Fellowship Program in San Diego, CA. The role focuses on targeted delivery of oligonucleotides with peptides and LMW ligands, with mentorship and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

The Innovation Postdoctoral Fellow will join a multidisciplinary team in Global Discovery Chemistry to advance CNS delivery strategies, publish findings, and develop leadership in biomedical research.

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant scientific discipline completed prior to fellowship start date.
• Rich experience in synthetic/medicinal chemistry.
• Demonstrated record of publications, presentations, patents, or equivalent.
• Desirable: background in drug delivery and biomolecule conjugation.
• Desirable: CNS and/or other disease areas with unmet medical needs.

Responsibilities

• Design & synthesize functional small molecules, bioconjugate with peptides and/or oligonucleotides for biological evaluation.
• Apply analytical and biophysical methods to evaluate purity, stability, binding, and pharmacological properties.
• Develop and propose ideas in chemistry and chemical biology to advance drug modality, focusing on CNS delivery.
• Prepare and deliver data-driven presentations that inform strategic decisions.
• Publish scientific manuscripts describing novel discoveries in high-impact journals.
• Work effectively both independently and in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
