Job summary

Kirkland & Ellis is seeking an Innovation AI Developer to build secure, scalable AI solutions for a leading law firm. You will collaborate with attorneys, innovation leaders, engineers, and data scientists to turn complex challenges into practical, deployment-ready applications.

The role covers full development lifecycle from prototyping to deployment on Azure, with RAG pipelines, AI agents, and governance considerations, in a hybrid, standard-hours environment with occasional travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 4+ years in professional services, legal, or technical roles; law firm experience preferred.
• Strong Python development, SQL, APIs, and data source integration.
• Hands-on with OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Hugging Face, LangChain, LangFlow.
• Experience designing AI agents and RAG pipelines with vector DBs (e.g., Pinecone).
• Secure, scalable Azure deployments; Docker, Kubernetes; CI/CD familiarity.
• Experience with internal tooling: Retool, Streamlit, Gradio.
• Ability to explain complex tech to non-technical audiences.
• Security, privacy, governance for sensitive information.

Responsibilities

• Partner with legal, business, and technical stakeholders to identify valued use cases.
• Design and implement AI tools and workflows using LLMs and AI apps.
• Create retrieval-augmented generation pipelines and AI agents.
• Architect AI solutions on Microsoft Azure; cloud, on-prem, and hybrid deployments.
• Develop evaluation frameworks for model accuracy, safety, ROI, and alignment.
• Build internal libraries, docs, and repeatable solution patterns.
• Advise on prompt design, model selection, and evaluation methods.
• Lead pilots, demos, and user training; gather feedback.
• Stay current on AI developments and contribute to knowledge sharing.
