Job summary

Kirkland & Ellis seeks an Innovation AI Developer to build secure, scalable AI products for legal services across the firm. You will collaborate with attorneys, engineers, and data scientists to deploy AI models using LLMs, ML, and analytics, delivering practical, compliant solutions.

Reporting to the Director of Innovation Engineering, you will drive development lifecycle from experiments to deployment, with travel as needed and standard hours of 9–5, potentially varying.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field is required.
• 4+ years in professional services, legal, or technical roles, preferably in a law firm.
• Strong Python development skills and SQL proficiency.
• Experience with AI models, LLMs, and AI tooling (OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Hugging Face).
• Experience designing AI agents and RAG pipelines with vector databases or knowledge graphs.
• Ability to build secure, scalable Azure-based solutions with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Partner with stakeholders to identify use cases and define outcomes related to efficiency, quality, and risk mitigation.
• Design and implement internal tools using AI models and modern UI platforms.
• Create RAG pipelines and AI agents for contract analysis, diligence review, and legal research.
• Architect Azure-based AI solutions and coordinate with security teams for deployments.
• Develop evaluation frameworks to measure model accuracy, robustness, and business value.
• Build internal libraries and documentation for consistent development across the firm.
• Advise on prompt design, model selection and evaluation methods for pilots.
