Job summary

The candidate should have a high school diploma and prior serving experience, with at least six months in a fine dining or luxury hotel setting. Excellent guest relations and teamwork are essential.

Job Description The Room Service Server is responsible for the delivery of food and beverage service to guests to provide a world class in-room dining experience that exceeds guest expectations. Room Service Servers will offer gracious hospitality and ensure all guests receive friendly, courteous and prompt service at all times following prescribed and established Biltmore service and Forbes standards. The position will also answer Room Service phones, take and input guest orders, and process payment of all checks. The incumbent will also provide general support and assistance to the leadership, department, and company as assigned. Reserve: a position averaging 20 hours a week (anywhere between 40-999 hours per year). Schedule will vary; must have weekend availability.

Requirements

3. 3. The ideal candidate will have had at least six (6) months of related food and beverage experience in a fine dining/upscale setting and/or luxury hotel/resort.
4. 4. Demonstrated commitment to delivering world class guest service and anticipating and exceeding guest expectations.
5. 5. Excellent guest relation and communications skills are a must; should be comfortable and able to offer warm, sincere, and gracious hospitality to guests.
6. 6. Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to handle a variety of guest service situations in a manner consistent with Biltmore standards.

8. 8. Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced, guest service environment. Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

1. 1. Lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent bending, lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
2. 2. Requires walking or standing to a significant degree.
3. 3. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
4. 4. The employee may work in a restaurant and/or kitchen environment.

Essential Job Duties

1. 1. Answer Room Service phone with 3 rings, using proper telephone etiquette.
2. 2. Take guest food and beverage orders, utilizing suggestive selling techniques.
3. 3. Accurately quote estimated time of delivery, monitor status and follow-up with guest if going to be delayed more than 5 minutes of time quoted.
4. 4. Setting up guests orders on table/tray according to Forbes standards.
5. 5. Ensure that all orders are complete, including appropriate condiments and silverware.
6. 6. Transport tables/trays from Room Service area to guest rooms, or Pool, ensuring all standards of food presentation are maintained.
7. 7. Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly to requests.
8. 8. Maintain positive guest relations at all times.
9. 9. Open and service wine/champagne bottles.
10. 10. Set up and deliver amenities to designated rooms and Chateau Tier Lounge
11. 11. Remove guests trays/tables from guest rooms according to established standards.

Additional Job Duties

1. 1. Complete opening side duties as assigned, including: table setup, ensuring sufficient supply of silverware, glassware, and china-ware, and preparation of all cold food items.
2. 2. Complete closing side duties, including: restocking butter, milks/creamers, yogurts, juices, sodas, and condiments. Remove all dirty linen, fold napkins, and empty coffee urns.
3. 3. Ensure all flowers and decorative items are fresh for guest use.
4. 4. Clean and reset tables/trays.
5. 5. Ensure appropriate authorization for all room and in-house account charges.
6. 6. Input charges for amenity orders and process all payment methods accurately.
