Job summary

Florida Department of Corrections is seeking a Classification Officer for Sumter Correctional Institution to manage inmate rehabilitation and custody using a collaborative case-management approach. You will assess progress, develop plans, coordinate referrals, and keep detailed records in OBIS.

The role requires reporting to the FDC office locally; essential duties include hearings, reclassification recommendations, and gain-time actions as applicable.

Qualifications

• Experience in case management using assessments, planning and evaluation.
• Experience reviewing, auditing, and analyzing data.
• Experience applying laws and procedures.
• Experience with OBIS or related computer programs.

Responsibilities

• Conduct periodic and unscheduled assessments to track progress and set goals.
• Plan and coordinate referrals for treatment, programs, and services.
• Evaluate information to make informed inmate management decisions.
• Maintain accurate inmate records in OBIS and other apps.
• Lead disciplinary hearings and custody/reclassification reviews.
