Job summary

The State of South Carolina is seeking a payroll and records clerk to establish, prepare, and maintain inmate payroll records and to assist in administrative logs and statistical reports.

This role requires a high school diploma with related experience; a bachelor’s degree may substitute the related experience. Four weeks of SCDC Basic Training on hire is required. Benefits include health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and telecommuting options.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma and work experience that is directly related to the area of employment.
• A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the related work experience.
• Prefer 2 years of accounting or accounting related experience.

Responsibilities

• Establishes, prepares, and maintains accurate records of inmate payroll.
• Assists in preparing and maintaining administrative logs, records and statistical reports.
• Enters employment notification of inmates, termination of employment, deductions and withdrawals from accounts.
• Ensure inmates' medical/dental bills are satisfied before closing out accounts, prior to release or parole.
• Serves as back-up to the human resource liaison and back-up to the center's business manager.
• Performs other duties as directed.
