Job summary

The GEO Group, Inc. is seeking a Library Assistant for the inmate library at a facility in Arizona.

Under direct supervision, you will assist in daily maintenance of the library, cataloging, circulation, and organizing materials, and provide information on the card catalog to users. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent; a Bachelor's degree in library sciences or related field is preferred, with Librarian Certification as a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in library sciences or related field is preferred; provisional/professional Librarian Certification is a plus.
• Experience and/or training in operating a small institutional library is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and organizes the circulation of library materials.
• Assists in the directing and training of inmate library aides.
• Assists in the selection of library books, periodicals and materials for purchase.
• Conducts library inventories. Prepares, maintains and reports appropriate records pertaining to circulation, inventory, newspapers and magazines.
• May assist in conducting library orientation for classes in coordination with instructors.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Bachelor’s degree in library sciences or related field

Librarian Certification (provisional/professional) preferred
