Job summary

FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS seeks a Classification Officer for Cross City Correctional Institution. The role involves managing inmates through a collaborative case-management approach, ensuring their needs are met with effective communication and resources.

Reports to the Classification Department in a non-telework setting. Responsibilities include assessments, scheduling referrals for treatment and services, evaluating information sources, maintaining OBIS records, and leading

Qualifications

• Experience in case management that uses assessments, planning, coordination, and evaluation to meet the individuals’ needs.
• Experience reviewing, auditing, analyzing, and/or proofreading data.
• Experience applying laws, applicable rules, and procedures.
• Experience or training in the use of the Offender Based Information System (OBIS) and/or related computer programs or applications.
• Experience with Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, and/or PowerPoint.
• Experience responding to grievances, inmate requests, or other correspondence.

Responsibilities

• Conduct periodic and unscheduled assessments to track inmate progress and develop management plans.
• Plan and coordinate targeted referrals for treatment, programs, work, and services.
• Evaluate information sources to make informed inmate management decisions.
• Maintain inmate records in OBIS and other applications.
• Lead disciplinary hearings and make custody/reclassification recommendations.
