Job summary

ARTCO, located in Wickliffe, KY, seeks a Fleet Manager to oversee tugboat and barge fleet operations. You will lead daily operations, ensure safety, and coordinate with vessel crews, captains, dispatch, and maintenance to sustain reliable river service.

You will develop staffing plans, manage onboarding, supervise performance, and participate in safety audits and improvement initiatives while maintaining a hands-on approach in a fast-paced inland river environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Working knowledge of Subchapter M and inland fleet boat operations.
• Current TWIC card required; if not possessed, apply within 5 days of hire.
• Demonstrated history of safe work behavior and commitment to safety policies and procedures.
• Ability to lead and manage diverse teams in a dynamic operational environment.
• Strong communication skills across all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational leadership and fleet oversight for tugboat and barge activities.
• Lead day-to-day fleet operations with emphasis on safety, efficiency, and reliability.
• Oversee vessel organization, movement coordination, and vessel utilization.
• Monitor fleet conditions and maintenance needs; address issues proactively.
• Support vessel housekeeping, engineering, and readiness; coordinate with crews and leadership.
• Participate in safety audits, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
