Job summary

HP invites talented PhD candidates to join a 12-week paid summer internship focused on ink chemistry and materials engineering. You will collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and supplier teams to run experiments, analyze data, assess risks, and propose solutions.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
• Must be enrolled full time at an accredited university.
• No more than 24 months of prior work experience related to the internship.
• Able to obtain US work authorization in 2027; no future sponsorship required.
• Experience with pigment chemistry, polymers, colloids, or nanoparticle suspensions.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Formulate and reformulate inks to meet performance and supply requirements.
• Design, conduct, and analyze experiments involving pigments, polymers, colloids, and nanoparticle suspensions.
• Support the scale-up and transfer of formulations from R&D to manufacturing.
• Evaluate material changes, quality concerns, and potential supply risks.
• Collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional R&D and manufacturing teams.
• Document experimental results and communicate technical findings and recommendations.
• Use data analysis, project management, and AI-assisted tools to support project execution.
