The Trauma Educator/Injury Prevention Coordinator position is a 50/50 hybrid role. This Registered Nurse performs as an educator and mentor to staff along the entire care continuum, collaborating with the Emergency Department and in-patient Educators to ensure nurse competency in the care of the trauma patient. The Trauma Educator is a key component of the trauma program, providing oversight of education and clinical acumen in the facility, and understanding the relationship between robust performance improvement and the quality of trauma education and outreach activities. This professional is committed to adhering to current evidence as foundational to all activities.
The Injury Prevention Coordinator provides trauma prevention and outreach education and training to nurses, EMS providers, other healthcare providers, and community members. The Trauma Injury Prevention Coordinator plays an integral role in injury prevention research and injury prevention programs that are consistent with community need, as well as research efforts related to trauma center data analysis and evidence-based research activities. The Trauma Injury Prevention Coordinator oversees the Trauma Program’s public relations, outreach, and injury prevention programs to maintain Trauma Center verification and designation requirements for outreach education and injury prevention, including related Performance Improvement initiatives.

St. Davids South Austin Medical Center is affiliated with the Texas Institute for Robotic Surgery. We offer advanced robotic services for orthopedics, open heart and lung surgery, complex GI surgery, surgical oncology, general surgery, colorectal surgery, and urology. It was one of the first hospitals in Central Texas to combine the use of CT imaging and robotics to detect early stage lung cancer.
